# Install and a phone app

Chat runs on the web today. This page says what we have decided about where it runs.

## On the web first

Chat starts as a website you sign in to. It is made so you can install it like an app from the browser: your threads stay on your account, not only in that tab. A closed tab does not throw away a run. The engine saves a run after every finished step, and the run continues from the last finished step. That is true of the web app we are building. It is not a separate desktop product with its own price.

## Push, without the message

Notifications include a push on a phone or a computer, even when the site is closed. You turn push on per browser. A push never contains the message. It only says you have a new one. The words stay in Chat. Quiet hours can hold push and email until morning. See [notifications](/docs/notifications/).

## A phone app

A phone app is planned. It has no date, and this site does not link to a store page because there is not one. Your phone's Inbox can be one of the notification channels in a later version. That is a notice in the workspace Inbox, not a separate Chat app.

> [!NOTE]
> The web app is in early access. [Request access](/request-access/) to get a seat.
